How do I download LEAP Expedite?
Firstly you need a LEAP Expedite account. Go to www.leapexpedite.com.au and click on the ‘Register Now’ button. Once you enter your details and sign up for an account you will be taken to the download page.
How long will it take to install LEAP Expedite?
This depends on the speed of your computer and internet connection. On a standard computer with an ADSL internet connection Expedite will take about 10 minutes to download and 10 minutes to install.
What are the minimum system requirements to run LEAP Expedite?
Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 with 2GB RAM
5GB free hard disk space
Internet connection
Microsoft Office 2003, Microsoft Office 2007 or Microsoft Office 2010 (with the latest generally available service packs)
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 (this will be downloaded and installed if you don’t already have it)
What additional hardware do I need to run LEAP Expedite?
No extra hardware is required. LEAP Expedite runs on your desktop computer and communicates with a server that is hosted by LEAP.
Will installing LEAP Expedite change any of my current Word or Outlook settings?
No, LEAP Expedite only installs toolbars to Microsoft Word and Outlook. It does not change any existing settings in either application.
Do I need to worry about backups?
No, data is stored in a central location on the hosted LEAP Expedite server and all backups are taken care of by LEAP. To recover your data, simply reinstall LEAP Expedite and all your data will be sent back to you.
Each time you connect to the internet and use LEAP Expedite, the settings and data on your local copy of LEAP Expedite will synchronise with the LEAP Server.
It is simple to create and edit your firm letterhead in LEAP Expedite including the logo. Once set up, all letters you create will have the same formatting. If you get stuck, just call the National HelpDesk.
Is LEAP Expedite suitable for non-lawyers?
No, LEAP Expedite has been written specifically for lawyers and law firms and will not be suitable for you otherwise.
Is LEAP Expedite suitable for all kinds of matters?
Yes
Are there any pre-configured Fields for the different Matter Types?
Yes, as soon as you select the matter type, all the fields for information needed to do that type of work become available to you. There are more than 1000 Matter Types and more than 20,000 available firlds in LEAP Expedite.
No. Not at this time. But all extant fields can bu used in your own precedents.
Am I entitled to use any of the Automated Smokeball Forms?
Yes, you will be automatically licensed to use the Smokeball Automated forms for your State or Territory and the Federal jurisdiction.
Am I entitled to use any of the Automated Precedents in the Step-by-Step Legal Practice Guides?
No, you need to subscribe to Step-by-Step Guides for the Precedents to work with LEAP Expedite.
Can I add and automate my own precedents?
Yes, you can easily add your own precedents or modify existing Smokeball precedents to suit your own requirements.
Training for LEAP Expedite is done online. We will contact you shortly after signing up to organise training. Training takes less than an hour and covers everything you need to know to use LEAP Expedite.
What supporting documentation is available to help me?
There are manuals and a Quickguide available from the LEAP Expedite website.
Does LEAP Expedite automate all Smokeball forms?
LEAP Expedite automates all forms available on the Smokeball website. Simply log into Smokeball via the link in Expedite, click on Smokeball forms as normal and the relevant data from LEAP Expedite will appear in the form.
Does LEAP Expedite work with the Precedents in the Step-by-Step Legal Practice Guides?
Yes, Expedite automates all precedents from all Step-by-Step guides available on Smokeball. Simply log into Smokeball via the link in Expedite, click on the Step-by-Step precedent and the relevant data from Expedite will appear in the precedent.
How many Automated Forms and Precedents are available to work with LEAP Expedite?
There are more than 5, 000 forms and precedents covering all common areas of law for all states in Australia.

Is Expedite for single users or can my whole firm use it?
Your whole firm can use LEAP Expedite. All matters, documents and other information created by one user in your firm are available to all other users.
Because LEAP Expedite data is stored on a hosted server staff in remote offices will have the same access to data as main office staff.
Do I need internet access to run LEAP Expedite?
Expedite downloads information as it is needed. This means that the first time you create a matter of a certain type or use a document or precedent information is downloaded from the hosted server. An internet connection is required to do this.
Do I need to be connected to the internet all the time?
No, LEAP Expedite will work offline if the required information has already been downloaded.
What internet connection speed to I need to run LEAP Expedite?
LEAP Expedite works best on an ADSL or better internet connection. It will work on a 56k modem but downloading information will take longer.
Can I run LEAP Expedite on more than one computer?
Yes, you can run LEAP Expedite on as many computers as you like. LEAP Expedite is licensed to the user and not to the computer. Each computer you use LEAP Expedite from will have the same data.
How do I have access to the same data on multiple computers?
Your data is stored on our hosted server which all computers running Expedite connect to. This means that, if you are connected to the server, every time you save information it is sent to the hosted server. This information is available to anyone in your firm.
How easy is it to change the number of users in my firm using LEAP Expedite?
Simply log into www.leapexpedite.com.au go to the staff page and add or remove users.
You are storing our data on your servers. What happens to my data if I stop using Expedite?
If you stop using Expedite it is your responsibility to move your data to another location.
How is the confidentiality of our data preserved?
We respect the confidentiality of our client’s data and exercise the utmost good faith in maintaining all such information as confidential. We also comply with the requirements of the Privacy Act 1998 (Cwlth)
What are these new toolbars in Word and Outlook for?
LEAP Expedite installs toolbars in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook. These toolbars give you various options when editing LEAP Expedite documents or emails.
What is the licence cost for LEAP Expedite?
A license to use LEAP Expedite costs $80 plus GST per user per month. This gives you access to all Smokeball forms for your state, free setup and training, and unlimited telephone support.
Is there a minimum term I need to sign up for?
There is no minimum term for LEAP Expedite, you can cancel anytime.

Are there any other costs involved?
The licence fee of $80 per user per month includes all setup, training and telephone support and automation of all Smokeball precedents for your state.
Smokeball precedents for other states, and all Step-by-Step guides and other publications can be purchased separately through Smokeball.
Is LEAP Expedite a browser based application?
No, while LEAP Expedite does use the internet to communicate information, a local application must also be installed.
Can I use LEAP Expedite on a MAC computer?
LEAP Expedite operates with PC computers only.
